the girl is all face . . . no serve no ground strokes.
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by A40(m): 3:19am On Jan 24, 2009
I agree she has a poor ground stroke she would need to work on that if she is ever going to win a Grand Slam
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by Nobody: 3:26am On Jan 25, 2009
and Jelena "play 1000 tournaments to be number one even without a slam" Jankovic is out. Duly flogged 6-1, 6-4 by my favorite female tennis player Marion Bartoli the doctor's daughter.
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by dinozzo(m): 5:45am On Jan 25, 2009
the majors still eludes her. Safina through to the quarter finals in three sets.
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by bagoma(f): 2:20pm On Jan 25, 2009
Jelena out. just heard now.
when is she going to win a grand slam?
indeed, female tennis is downhill now, no clear leaders.

Grand Slam TV Ratings would drop to an all-time low!! what do you think 90% of the male audience look out for?

I don't know who does this ranking but what is Jankovic still doing at the top of the World rankings?

I think someone shld revamp the rankings so you cant just play 1000 tournaments and then claim to be number 1. Jankovic plays so many tournaments that even reaching the semis in all of them shld give her enough points to vault over people like Venus.

They should scale it so ranking points are relative to tournaments played. Venus won Wimbledon and the yr end championships and yet she's only no 6.
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by Nobody: 1:58pm On Jan 26, 2009
Well,you might be right.
Some way,the rankings have to give credence to the No1 Spot with regards to Grand Slams.
However,if you look at it from the angle of Masters titles, then maybe Jankovic deserves it.Though with her latest outster, the no.1 ranking is in severe jeopardy.
I think she does just enough to make her no.1.However it's kind of puzzling that the top female player in the world is yet to register a GS to her name.

Jankovic won 4 titles all through last season and only one was a masters title (Rome) . . .
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by Nobody: 5:21pm On Jan 26, 2009
So how come she's no1?
Like OI said, she does enough to be top.
If she finishes in the latter stages of all tournaments, she will be No.1.
I think she's consistenet though.I just thought she could take the title in Melbourne.
But like I also said,it's odd she hasn't won a GS
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by dayokanu(m): 5:45pm On Jan 26, 2009
Serena is the only form of entertainment in female tennis.
I wish kournikova and those Russian divas back to the game jor

consistency is not playing 200 more tournaments than everyone, finishing in the QF of 75% of them, winning 4% and getting knocked out early in the remainder but scoring enough points to be World number 1.

It took Rafa Nadal winning 8 titles including 2 GS, 1 olympic gold and 3 masters titles to be world number 1 . . . kinda shows you why female tennis is a joke really.

Jankovic - 4 titles, no GS, no olympic title, 1 masters shield . . . the rest tier II titles.
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by Nobody: 7:08am On Jan 27, 2009
Nadal's case was different inthe sense that there was only one dominator in the men's game.
The women's game is a lot more open,i.e. there isn't one person winning all the grand slams. That's why it's easy to be consistent in your own example to become number one.

- There was only one dominator in the mens game because the guy is just damn too good.

- the womens game is "more open" because frankly they are just a collection of average ball bashers so anyone can beat the other on their lucky day.

Jankovic is out too!!! Very good all hands are on deck for my baby momma Serena to win her 3rd or is it 4th Australian Open grin grin
Re: Australian Open 2009 - Women by ogre(m): 11:02pm On Jan 27, 2009
It's hard to pick a winner in the women's game. Form doesn't count and certainly not the ranking(those are nothing more than numbers), i think it'ld be better to just list the women top twenty, close your eyes and pick someone. You just might pick the winner. In that case, i pick, sharapova-sorry she didn't come for her fashion parade this time so it's jankovic-sorry,she'll have to continue her search for a grandslam some other time. alright, this time i can go wrong. Venus. Ahhhh. I give up.
