How Do You Call A White Man? by Artuard: 4:46am On Mar 25, 2015 |
Hello, I used to live in Nigeria when I was a kid in the 90's. I do remember kids calling me Bature. Or something to that effect. We lived in Jos. am i correct in how its spelled? Would that be the way to call whites in Nigeria? When i began to google a term Oyinbo also pops up. Which one is more proper? Are they offensive? Thanks in advance :-) |

Artuard: Bature is Hausa for white people. Widely used in Northern Nigeria. Oyinbo/Oyibo is the prevalent term in Southern Nigeria. 2 Likes |

They are neutral. They are just names for a white person. Artuard: |
