AGAIN…
… About their lies and vain promises…

I
His words bloated my ears,
Like a blob of hope
It stilled my fears…
For the first time in years,
Aspirations bathe me a-smear.
His words resound,
The thumping of my heart abound.
I am a fool! I have lost all!
I can almost hear his call,
His so-called true patriotic call,
Persuading to let go of my all.
… Now it is too late to bicker,
As my body burns with fever.
‘I went to schools with no shoes!’ He cried,
‘Of course, this must be him’ I sighed.
Failing to hint Him above for a sign.
To the truth I thought he’ll bind.

Of the south-south region I came.
Where nature give earth’s full gain.
Oh! And of course, from there he came,
And of a truth, not the slightest
Hint that he’ll bring me pain.
… And now my heart hurts,
Like a fiery flame, deep within it burns.
A moonslide, seaslide, landslide
Victory it was,
When his hands were raised in victory of course.

II
Up afar north, they waged wars,
Bloodcurdling, ‘brothers-in-loss’
‘Good’ paid no attention to this,
But gave what seems a-bliss.

III
On the first day, of the first month, of the first hour,
He gave to us a ‘divine flower’
Sent from the Federal and principalities in power.
Like a meal in our mouth, it was sour.
The uneducated called it ‘subsijin’, some
Called it ’somesijin’, while others called
It ‘stopstidy’
Of course, the elites branded it ‘subsidy!’
He subsidized our hopes!
And filled us with loathe,
Now the cracking of my bones
Is what I have come to know.
‘If I can make it, you can make it’
He said.
It is no doubt to believe we have erred.
Blinded by his pitiable background,
He came and use our heads ‘knack ground’
… With a handful of summon meals a day,
It is imminent
I have been made a fool once again…

(Written somewhere in 2012 during the subsidy protest)
