Natural And Considering Relaxing Again. by Nobody: 10:27am On Mar 25, 2015 |
I've been natural for a little over a year (big chopped JAN 2014) but I'm considering relaxing my hair again. FTR I hate relaxers and I hated my relaxed hair but I'm getting really frustrated RN. My hair doesn't seem to be growing and I can never get those gorgeous natural styles right. My hair's too short to bun so I have to wear it in an afro all the time. It's also at that AWKWARD length stage. Right now I have it in braids but I might have to relax it when I take my braids down. I would prefer not to but it seems like I don't have a choice. Any advice/ help would be greatly appreciated. |

SouffleX, what's your hair regime? There must be a reason why your hair is not growing. You should consider taking hair vitamins. It helps. For me, I've transitioned twice only to end up relaxing it . Finally,I did a big chop last month cos my hair shreds a lot and I had dandruff. I hope you have not relaxed yet o. profectiv was bad bad for my hair. It over-processes my hair and burns my scalp. I would recommend ORS olive oil relaxer or vitalie olive oil relaxer. |

Joavid: HI again! Turns out my hair is actually growing. I just felt it wasn't because I was too obsessed with length. Now I'm just focusing on health and thickness. I don't think I'll ever relax again sef, I hated my relaxed hair. It was too fragile. I don't have a regimen (I'm awful, I know). I just do whatever I feel my hair needs. I have serious acne issues so vitamins are Enjoy your extra short twa stage. Experiment with colors and cuts. I regret not doing more with mine. I'm actually considering cutting it again so I can rock it properly this time |

SouffleX: No wonder biotin broke me out. Am acne prone too. I got a creme of nature hair dye last week. I can't wait to dye it. #giggles Only the tips tho, like highlights. So I'll have to wait till my hair grows to an afro length. Am getting some hair styling gel this weekend. Am excited about this journey. Can you tell me products that works for you? Coa am still trying to put a regime together |

Joavid: Yayy! I might dye mine a lighter shade of brown soon. I swear by Cantu shea butter leave in! Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie works great as a moisturizer for me, Eden bodyworks jojoba monoi deep conditioner, herbal essences hello hydration conditioner. I'm a little bit of a product junkie so I have quite a collection. If I had more money Lord only knows what my stash would look like Shampoos: Shea Moisture raw shea butter moisture retention shampoo, elucence volume clarifying shampoo, herbal essences hello hydration shampoo, Eden bodyworks jojoba monoi shampoo. Instant Conditioners: Herbal essences hello hydration, shea moisture curl and shine, shea moisture raw shea butter extra moisture conditioner. Deep conditioners: organics hair mayonnaise, Eden bodyworks jojoba monoi, shea moisture raw shea butter treatment masque, aussie moist 3 minute miracle. Leave in: Cantu shea butter, macadamia nourishing leave in cream, shea moisture yucca and baobab thickening milk. Gels and such: shea moisture curling gel soufflé, creme of nature perfect edges, good old petals gel Oils: olive oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, peppermint, DIY carrot oil. Why do natural hair products have ridiculously long names? |

SouffleX: Thanks a lot doll. Just when I thought I couldn't find a sulfate free shampoo, now I have a wide range of options. Why do natural hair products have ridiculously long names? You can say that again. Cos they include; the active ingredients, the (double)function, the end results of using the products. All na marketing. |

I'm transitioning to natural..but I'm not really sure about when I should do the big chop Any advice?? |
Re: Natural And Considering Relaxing Again. by Nobody: 1:13pm On Jul 16, 2015 |
marieolae: Whenever you're ready! Personally I think it's better to do it when your natural hair hasn't grown out much. You can rock the short look while using that time to discover what your hair really likes. Trying to do that once the hair is much longer is a hassle. I also think it's the best time to experiment with color. Also consider the stress of working with two different textures. There really is no "perfect time" to big chop. Just do it when you're ready |

Thank you How's your regime like? I honestly don't want stress with my hair..all I need is health and thickness.. I've been doing research and most of these gurus and bloggers use 10 or more products on their hair Ain't nobody got time for that SouffleX: |

marieolae: I don't really have a hair regimen. Well I do, but I'm a lazy natural so...... Wash every two or four weeks depending on how dirty my hair is. Clarify at least once every 6-8 weeks. Moisturize whenever my hair feels dry. Periodical hot oil treatments. Typical wash day: Prepoo, Shampoo, Condition, Deep Condition, (tea rinse), Moisturize. I wash my hair in sections to avoid tangling. Check out leazzway on YouTube. She's a Nigerian vlogger and her hair maintenance /styling is on point. |
