Nigeria’s government has denied that militant Islamist group Boko Haram abducted 500 children from the north-eastern town of Damasak, the BBC reports.
According to the BBC, the kidnapped kids are all aged 11 and under and come from the recently recaptured Borno town. Damasak, a trading town, was recaptured by regional forces earlier in March.
Government spokesman Mike Omeri said the number was lower, but he could not say exactly how many had been seized.
