In Nigeria, it's medicine. Dentist are not valued there. But in other countries, dentist are employed faster and is easier to study. If you study medicine, it will take alot of years and you will not get employed soo quick, but if you do, it's very rewarding.

everybody wants to become a doctor , but very few wants dentistry, so in my opinion I would say dentistry has a greater rate due to few persons in it and it is also tougher, all d best dear ....

In Nigeria, dentistry is way tougher than medicine and surgery . The respective degrees are considered equivalents though . Medicine is slightly more prestigious here and elsewhere in the world.
Employment prospects are good for both but dentistry has slightly better employment opportunities due to the rarity of dentists in Nigeria.

All in all, both are nice careers but you should know that dentistry is actually a branch of medicine, since a dentist is only practicing Dental medicine .
You shouldn't choose between these two because of perceived difficulty or employment prospects ,choose based on what you see yourself doing in the next 15years .

long time dear. Back to the question, dentistry and medicine. My own opinion dentistry is harder you could decide to ask anybody studying medicine that's also has dentistry faculty in his or her school. They will answer you better. Cos dentistry is a sub specialty in medicine, so when do medicine as a whole den dentistry has a subspeciaty. Now to employment saga, in nigeria we are very few so employment can't b a problem compare to many if our colleague in medicine and the pay is the same. But to me there is no difference in the two if their is, it will b little. So u you want to pick any of the two has career pick base on what you want to achieve not by what they can provide for you the table, Because no difference in the two

Let’s face it. Many people fear you.

Seventy five (75%) percent of adults experience some degree of dental fear, from mild to severe.

Five to ten percent have dental phobia who avoid dental care at all costs.
