The Organization is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill an existing vacancy for the under-listed position. The position is based in the organization’s office in Lagos.

Counsel in its Legal Access Programme

Core Skills and Responsibilities
• The candidate should be able to, and have a hands-on experience in conducting litigation in trial and appellate courts. He or she must demonstrate strong advocacy/litigation skills and must have practiced before the High courts National Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal. S/he will provide legal advisory services to clients, prepare depositions of both expert and other witnesses, and argue applications.

• In addition to practicing law and litigating cases in a variety of practice areas, s/he must have particularly conducted litigation to enforce fundamental rights and have strong knowledge of procedural rules for remedying infringements of human rights.

• Be very knowledgeable in international and regional human rights law and how they apply to Nigeria.

• Possess extraordinary strategic forensic skills, and be adept in using a variety of available and strategic procedures to advance client’s causes.

Requirements
• 1st degree in Law, Must also be called to the Nigerian Ba;
• NYSC certificate or a certificate of waiver.
• At least five (4) years post call experience is essential.
• Must have excellent research, drafting, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to lead a litigation team
• Ability to work with very minimal or no supervision
• Able to meet set targets under pressure
