A local New Zealand BMW dealership ran an April 1 ad promising a free car to the first person to show up that morning. The only thing was, this wasn't an April Fools' prank, the New Zealand Herald reports. The ad, which appeared at the bottom of the front page of the New Zealand Herald purposefully looked like a joke. The ad was billed as an "April Fools' Day Special" and said the first person to bring a copy of the ad to the dealership and ask for "Tom" would get a $50,000 car and a free driving course. On a hunch, Tianna Marsh got to the dealership at 5:30 a.m. "In this case we wanted to turn the tables and reward the first person who was willing to take the chance," said sales manager Gavin Penfold. "It couldn't have gone to a more deserving winner." Marsh traded in her 15-year-old station wagon, which the dealership will sell and donate all the money to a local charity. |
