After the leadership of Bishop S. Chuka Ekemam, Sr., who presided over the church as the first indigenous bishop and prelate since 23rd November, 1990 to 2012. During the general conference in United States of America in the same year, Bishop Michael Angelo Frencher, Prelate, Eastern West African Episcopal District, the 101st Bishop in succession elected and consecrated at the 49th Session of General of The A. M. E.
