Pilate was not such unschooled in Greek mythology
He knew gods do stare as men in human's dramatis personae
So he shuddered when the son of God retorted
‘’except it is given to you by God’’
But Pilate was bent on pleasing the mob
He won’t jettison the peace for the sake of an impostor
And hades was watching

The mob called for crucifixion
Spurred on by the rulers for the death of the lamb of God
Truly he was a lamb
A propitiation for the original infraction of man
Even Pilate inadvertently concurred with heaven on Christ being a perfect sacrifice
In similitude of a mosaic priest who would upon inspection of a sacrifice lamb decide its wholesomeness
He stood as a witness of heaven and said ‘’I find no fault in him’’!
And hades watched gleefully

It was written in the law and prophets
That his own for whom he became like unto them would reject him
And give him up to be killed
He was not perturbed at the outplay of things
He had only one destination, he was sure of the way
He knew the way up was down

And he took the plunge into hades

Not that they killed him but that he laid down his life
And on the adversary’s own home ground, he handed him a convincing defeat
He went down only to gain the way up

And hades can watch…only helplessly!
