Health experts under the auspices of The Foundation for Africa Cultural Heritage have raised the alarm that abortion could lead to breast cancer.

According to FACH president, Dr. Nkechi Asogwa, many cases of breast cancer have been linked to the aftermath of an abortion.

She said that contraceptives and other birth control pills that have been banned in the United States due to their side effects were being shipped to Nigeria.

Asogwa said that Nigerians deserve to be told the medical risks involved in taking birth control pills, to enable them to make informed choice.

She said, “When you terminate a pregnancy you end many ongoing processes in the body such as the preparation of breast for the secretion of milk. So the tissues that were cut off suddenly would become fragile and they can trigger the formation of cancerous cells in the breast.

“There are about five health implications attached to most of these drugs and that was why theys were banned in the West. But here, no one is asking questions.

Also speaking at the forum, a biomedical scientist, Obianuju Ekeocha, warned that abortion might damage the womb and lead to future infertility.

She called on the Federal Government to resist any pressure from international partners to legalise abortion.

Yes, some contraception increase your chances of cancer, but using contraception is not the same as abortion. Even here in the UK, you are made aware of the increased risk of cancer whilst using some contraception so the statement that drugs that have been banned in the western world are been shipped to Africa is void.

Might just as well miscarriages. stillbirths and infant death leads ro breast cancer too, because after all the breast tissues have formed in readiness for a baby that never suckled.

Such unvalidated research should not be on the front page as its misinforming, there too many ignorant and lazy to read people abound that take news hook, line and sinker.

Even though abortion is not legalised, pregnancies (high-risk or not) will still be terminated by young girls in school out of panic or fully grown women that can't handle having another child. Let doctors do their job and let whoever's conscience deal with them.

Apparently it is better to have a high infant mortality/maternal mortality rate because of inadequate medical facilities than to terminate a fetus, save the life and resources of the mother and spare the world another hungry (and probably malnourished) baby.

This does seem like another made-up, scaremongering tale with no basis, to be honest. Putting it on the front page legitimizes it for no reason.

This is actually true and I think it should be common knowledge. Those legalizing abortion should tell us if they wished they were quit from the womb for outside factors which they know nothing about. It's like killing the children because there's a threatened genocide which you don't want them to face. Or taking food away from the starving ones because there's a threat of famine.
