Nigerian NDC Delegation On Vision 2016 Study Tour In Gambia by okwuvic(m): 9:50pm On May 08, 2015
A 22-man delegation from the National Defence College of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Armed Forces Sunday arrived in The Gambia for a weeklong study tour, specifically on the Vision 2016 agenda, on the theme, “Agriculture and national development in The Gambia; lessons for Nigeria”.

Representative from the Ministry of Defence and senior top military officers from The Gambia Armed Forces received the delegation at the Banjul International Airport.

The delegation comprises of air vice marshall, brigadier general, commodore (Cdres), colonel, captains, generals, lieutenant colonels, squadron leaders and medical officer.

The National Defence College is the highest defence institution in Nigeria. The delegation is expected to visit Jahally Pachar Vision 2016 Food Self-Sufficiency projects.

In his welcome remarks at a reception held at the GAF training centre in Fajara, the chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Lieutenant General Ousman Badgie underscored the significance of the visit, noting that the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been a brother to The Gambia Armed Forces in their professional training needs. He added that their contributions to The Gambia cannot be quantified and that no amount of adjective could express their heartfelt appreciation.

Lieutenant General Badgie noted that high standards of professionalism, for a modern, robust and efficient security force, not only capable of defending the country’s territorial integrity, but also responding to the changing global security requirements have been a long standing policy objective of every government.

Within these greater transformation schemes, CDS Badgie said, capacity building has been a watchword as evident in the series of cooperation in the area of security and training initiatives being undertaken by various armed forces.
