I have written something like this sometimes ago, but some people wont just stop

How do adobe build softwares. like they build houses?

Everything in technology is getting smaller, smaller softwares, smaller chips, smaller workforce etc
The only thing thats getting bigger is performance, but not so with Adobe

just look at this.

Flex builder 425Mb VS Netbeans(the whole package php, java, fx, css, javascript, c/c++, python etc) 200Mb
Flex builder Ecplipse Plugin 300MB VS Ark Linux(whole operatiing system) 200+Mb
Flex Builder Linux eclipse plugin 177Mb VS Netbeans6.5 for javafx 65Mb
Acrobat 9(a dvd, dts a massive 4gig), sumatra pdf reader(less than 5mb) open office can create pdf, okular can do all the funky stuffs too(okular + openoffice is less than 500Mb)

please whats the sense in building softwares as if you are constructing WTC. Someone should talk to adobe software developers, maybe they do more copy-pasting than coding.

Javarules, you are very observant. Since most IDEs and softwares are getting smaller, smarter and powerful by the day. However adobe flash include some product in their DVD package e. MACROMEDIA, FIREWORKS, ILLUSTRATOR, FLASH et.c since they acquired MACROMEDIA and included their product in the catalogue. so lets not crucify them early. I for see them leading the world in Web development in the future.

I just told a friend that if architects build houses like adobe build softwares, then we probably would have run out of earth space

it depends on who you think adobe is/are. I think adobe is not a singular entity, anyway thanks for the correction.

i have also noticed that. I installed latest version of adobe pdf reader. it came with adobe air also (i have no probs with this one). my anger is that the installation was a heavy 315mb for just a reader ? . well lets see
