In alliance to the previous post: why HND holders can be more opportuned than a 2.2 B.Sc holders in Nigeria.
This doesn't mean they are being bias in anyway: here are their reasons:
1. They seek to reduce traffic since most people want a top company

2. They are being similar to other reputable companies requirement I.e They want to keep up with their current images and standard

3. Those companies are wary of the current trends of standard that graduates produce nowadays, so they seek to streamline it.

4. They believe an hardworking soul is best determined by the output, which is what they need in the company. (Well, high CGPA is not buy luck but by working for it)

What best can you do when you fall in a 2.2 category and below (and you want to be a career person),

1. Do not really seek a top company, at least as a fresh graduate.

2. Don't be passionate about graduate trainee programmes, 90% graduate trainee programmes would always ask for a 2.1 minimum requirement.

3. Focus your attention on additional certifications to tidy up your shortcomings.

4. Many at times, a Masters degree+2.2 B.sc is equivalent to a 2.1: e.g in Access bank.

5. Work towards internship or volunteering services in any sector of your choice in a medium rated company(companies whose choices you are fit in), even if little or no pay ensues. Gradually you become a full staff.(By this you are preparing yourself for an experienced hire in a top company)

6. If you are left with a choice of two companies A and B whereby A pays more but is unrelated to your long term career goals, but B pays little or nothing but is related to your career goals, please choose the latter because of the No 5 reason.

7. Focus on skill acquisition in your career progression more than knowledge acquisition: Skill is worth more than knowledge because what you can do is really convincing than what you know in the labor market.

8. Don't stop scouting: There have been testimonies of such jobs which one never qualified for and ended up securing.

9. Pray without ceason, be positive at all times, keep ur networking stronger, do a lot of research about companies...
