Stories, stories,
Stories my mother told me.
Stories from an African village,
Stories of the African struggle.

Stories of the fight for independence
By Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba fathers
Wrestling power from colonial masters
And creating a country, Nigeria.

Stories of Oba Rillwan,
Who swears, cuss and give threats
His role in politics, partisan
Mighty is the power he wields.

Stories of the Nigerian citizen
Who holds the highest political office.

Stories of Nigerian twittizens
The lords of twitter street,
Subs being hurled amongst friends
And the beggars seeking followers.

Stories of the yahoo boy,
The general in cybercrime.
With a quest to live life, the fullest,
He'll do anything to pull hairs.

Stories of the average Lagosian,
Who eats one-zero-one daily,
Spends half his life in traffic,
And is forever grateful for "change".

Stories of the runs girl,
And her ever bugling handbag
With a vast collection of sugar daddies,
The ever paying magas.

Stories that would go down the ages,
Handed to future generations.
A tale as old as time,
For the building of the nations.

This reminds me of Jimi Solanke's story land. Permit me to remind us the lyrics...

"Story land story land
Land of music
Fun and tales
Story land story land
Bring your friends along".

Your poem is lovely. Reminds us of the everyday happenings in Nigeria.
