The Imo State University Vice Chancellor, Professor Ukachukwu Aloysius Awuzie have been relieved of his duty by the state Governor, Rochas Okorocha. Professor Victoria Adaobi Obasi has been appointed in his stead but in acting capacity as the VC of the university.

The University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ralph Njoku-obi though unwilling to give details surrounding the sack of the Vice Chancellor, had confirmed the sack of Prof. Awuzie.

It is however suspected that the sack may not be unconnected to the strike action embarked by the lecturers of the institution few weeks back over non-payment of salarie.
