Dreaming Nigeria: Intuition
What is Intuition?
Intuition, a phenomenon of the mind, describes the ability to acquire knowledge without inference or use of reason – Wikipedia.

Intutition

Intuition has been a great discussion; sometimes people see it as instinct, belief or even rational thinking. According to Plato, intuition is a pre-existing knowledge residing deep within the memories in the mind; this knowledge is usually dormant until it encounters a situation where it comes to live.

“Intuition is the key to everything, in painting, filmmaking, business - everything. I think you could have an intellectual ability, but if you can sharpen your intuition, which they say is emotion and intellect joining together, then a knowingness occurs. ” ― David Lynch

The advancements in the world civilisation are evidences that intuition is very important in our lives and development. Many influential people trusted this gift; painters, writers, artists, entrepreneurs, even engineers and scientists have applied intuition in their daily activities.

Back in the university, my lecturer in High Voltage and Switchgears gave us an assignment to derive and explain the process behind an equation on the electrical breakdown of gaseous insulation. For two weeks we were not able to derive this equation let alone explain the process involved in the breakdown. During our study group session, a thought came to me, why don’t I work in reverse and see where it could lead to – wow! Success!

In Christianity, intuition is known as God given insights. These insights can be experienced as a result of emotions and not thoughts. Example is the judgement of King Solomon on the two women claiming ownership of a living baby. Without insight, Solomon would not have known that the true mother of the baby in dispute will be more attached to the baby than the mother of the dead child.

“The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you and you don’t know why or how.” – Albert Einstein

Awaken and Develop You Intuition
Listen – Listening to your inner self is very important. When one listens, they can judge their level of connection to a decision. It can show our true emotions about a decision – happiness, lukewarm, sadness.
Open your eyes – Our sight comprises of the conscious sight and unconscious sight. An intuitive person can have a photographic memory; they can spot changes in a picture without being told.
Enjoy nature – Take a walk in nature, admire the sunset, view the rain falling, smile and breathe the air in the rain, walk your dog, appreciate the beauty of nature.
Exercise your body – When the body is in a fit condition, it enables excellent blood circulation; then a nerves and senses will operate at their optimal capacity; consequently, making your more alert.
Write a journal – Makes notes of your thoughts processes, your communications with \God. Review and mediate on your journal and look for improvements.

“Don’t try to comprehend with your mind. Your minds are very limited. Use your intuition.” – Madeleine L’Engle

Remember always listen to your inner mind.

Wisdom and the Road to Success
Wisdom and the Road to Success

The highest form of knowledge is revelation knowledge. It is the inspirational illumination of the mind of man by the spirit of God almighty. Revelation knowledge is wisdom. It is a mystery hidden in God; it can only be accessed by a receptive and grateful mind that continually acknowledges its sources. It transforms a novice into an expert 1 Corinthians 2:6-16. It turns a weakling into a bold adventurer, a timid dullard into an inventor or pioneer; and, it energies a quiet fellow, making him or her to become a passionate propagator of the promises of God. It turns shame into fame.

Strive for this wisdom with all of your being, search for it and you will find it. Nothing can be compared to the wisdom of God in full fledge operation in the life of mortal man Proverb 3:13-23.
“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” – Jamie Paolinetti

To live out your creative imaginations under the inspired guidance of God, you will operate with divine wisdom here on earth.

A pertinent question, how do I continually tap from God’s wisdom?
Many people are suffering today because of what they do not know that they ought to know. Every prolonged problem is traceable to lack of insight of the solution. Most solutions to problems have been documented. It will be best if there is engagement in deep study to lay hold of deep insights that will transform life. Deep study brings about specification.
Asking questions; in global business, you only need to know much more than your competitors in order to get ahead of them. Ask questions continually, make enquires, search-out new and updated information in your quest for advancement until you lay hold on the most updated facts in your field of endeavour.

Interaction; right association, iron sharpens iron. Associate with the people ahead of you so as to advance in your career. Rubbing minds with mediocre will rob you of excellence. Consider a piece of wood and a piece of iron; if there is an interaction between the two, the wood will be cut while the iron will go blunt - mediocre and performer relationship. You need to mind your circle of influence and read the best books and periodicals in your chosen field of endeavour.

Maintaining an unbroken focus on the solutions to the challenges confronting you for a reasonable length of time, you will eventually overcome and break free from all the shackles of limitations around you. Divided attention delays the progress of men. Focus is the force behind great accomplishments.

Meditation is very important. To become a fountain of knowledge, one must undergo intensive study and mind blowing meditation. There should be ruminations of your study in your mind so as to bring out the best in you. Seat down to think of you have read, meditate so as to understand more. God is a thinker – Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the thoughts that I think towards you said the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. If God is thinker, who are we not to be thinkers; after all, we were made in His image, the image formed from thinking. With meditation comes wisdom. Wisdom is the mother of all clever inventions and quick solutions. King Solomon was the wisest of his time yet he communed with God from the bottom of his heart.

Pursuit of Righteousness
Pursuit of Righteousness

Righteousness, an attribute that implies that a person’s actions are justified and can have the connotation that the person has been judged or reckoned as leading a life that is pleasing to God. – Wikipedia
“True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.” - Albert Einstein

We live in a society where righteousness can be perceived as being a smug, more like self-righteousness where we tend to attribute to ourselves the standardization of the measurement of righteousness. In the church, some people portray the image of righteousness, publicly displaying their piousness so as to be recognised as being righteous; however, deep down they are the opposite of righteousness. Jesus told the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican; the Pharisee is the typical example of self-righteousness – believing that one is perfect according to the specification of the law.

Righteousness through the cross

Self-righteousness causes conflict in our interactions with other people. It makes us blame the fallen ones with easy, making us think ourselves infallible and hypocrites. However, one thing we easily forget is that the measurement of righteousness is God, not ourselves and definitely not the law.
“Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” – Manny Pacquiao

In the eastern religions cum philosophy such as Hinduism and Buddhism, etc; there is more emphasis on ‘Right Action’ than ‘Righteousness’. This because when one seek to become righteous, they overtly tend to become self-righteous; this is because they end up defining the standard of righteousness. Self-righteousness make people become possessive, they become more self-attached. What is right action? Speaking the truth to the best of our knowledge and avoiding wrong actions – actions that go against the freedom of others.
“The atom bomb was no 'great decision.' It was merely another powerful weapon in the arsenal of righteousness.” - Harry S Truman

During the World War 2, the Japanese took the war to the ‘neutral’ Americans due to their interests in world domination – the Asia-Pacific region. The Americans responded massively, the atom became weaponized, many lives were lost, and many lives were saved as well. President Harry S Truman claims that the use of the atom bomb was a righteous decision because it saved lives of thousands of American soldiers that could have died if the weapon was not deployed; however, how about the lives of the Japanese, how about Nagasaki and Hiroshima residents. We need to watch our decisions, our thoughts, and our egos, so as to not become overtly self-righteous.
“Every person who confesses that Christ Jesus is Lord, repents of their sin and gives their heart to God is a child of God and belongs to Him. And in Christ, we are made right with God, we are His righteousness, and we have the power of Christ in us to live right.” - Joyce Meyer

In Christianity, Saint Paul spoke of ways of attaining righteousness; the first is through the law of mosses and the second is through faith in the atonement made possible by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, Saint James spoke about the relationship between faith and works of righteousness – works of charity; they are inseparable, they go hand in hand.

God in His awesomeness is righteous and He is the only standard of righteousness. The modification of the ten commandments of mosses by Jesus into two commandments can be our guidelines for righteousness: love God and love your neighbour as yourself. Consequently, to be righteous, we need to be considerate to our maker our God, ourselves – our conscience, and other people – our neighbours; we need to do onto others what we do onto ourselves.
“I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care. ” ― Lou Holtz

Truth, right actions, faith and love are the ingredients to righteous life.
