Pandemonium as 400 level Lautech student dies

A 400 level student of chemical engineering, Lautech has been declared dead. The deceased, simply identified as kolawole Abdulfatai slumped while playing football on the school field and was promptly rushed to the school health center. On getting there, the nurses on duty delayed them for a while by asking for ID card and receipt which was not available. When the situation was getting out of hand, they tried resuscitating him and they discovered they had no oxygen to help him.

After a while, He was referred to Bowen teaching hospital and the ambulance was not available to convene him because the driver has been sent out on an errand. A Samaritan then offered his car to transfer him but unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital.

The school has been in pandemonium as angry students roamed around preventing lectures from holding, led by the sug president, comrade solace Bakare. After a meeting with the school management, he came out with pledges from the authority to restructure the school's health facilities as it is not the first incident.

As at the time of report, students are deliberating in whether to start a riot as the decision of the management seems not bankable.

Until our medical practitioners are sanctioned for all Unethical conducts we will continue to have this kind of avoidable deaths. In normal environment saving the life of victim should paramount at least first aid then money can be requested before further treatment is giving.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

- To investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the student- Kolawole Fatai Morenikeji {Matric No- 113784}.

- To investigate how the University Health Centre handled the case.

- To investigate the General Attitude of Health Centre Staff to Students and Staff.

- To recommend how to remedy any observed lapse in future.

- To consider and make recommendation on any other relevant issue E.g {Elongated of the students portal and 3days holidays to Morn a fallen Ladokites starting from Tomorrow 10th June 2015 till Friday 13th june, 2015.

I.e, the report of the panel should be submitted to the Vice Chancellor within fourteen days {14}.
