Question for the forum, my understanding is that it is illegal to import cars over 10 years old into Nigeria.

I think it is illegal, if anyone knows better please correct me.

I know that initially the reason for importing cars via Cotonou was the congestion and corruption at the Nigerian ports, however it has been implied that it is legal to bring in cars over 10 years old via this route.

I'm not disputing the fact that people do bring in old cars from there, query is as to the legality.

still awaiting a reply, as it seems asking this question in threads of cars outside the country over 10 years old is deemed derailing.
