Rinsola paced into Art twenty-One, Lagos.

Wrapture : The story of cloth by Peju Alatise was on exhibition.

Rinsola got to the gallery quite on time as the room was still quite scanty.
She adjusted her ankara-made turban which she had knotted a bit too tight.

'You have to look afrocentric, afrochic, infact look like art if possible'
Muyiwa had warned.

He had been buzzing up giving her everytip to look like 'art' since she told him she'll be attending the exhibition and bidding for a piece.



'Thats the one' she said excitedly as she moved closer to one of the pieces on display. In front, stood a stunning dark skinned man staring quietly. Rinsola stood beside him, staring at WRAPTURE too.

'Its beautiful' He said.
'Yeah, it is. Peju is good' Rinsola replied forcing a smile from the side of her cheek.

'She's the best!' He almost screamed back. Turning to face Rinsola.

His big brown eyes met with hers. He had on kenneth cole's black. Rinsola perceived it. Its her fav.



Giving him a quick glance from head to toe. He wore black pants with a grey shirt. Well tucked without a tie.
'Handsome god' she declared in her head.

'I'm taking it' Rinsola finally said.

'You are taking what?'

'Wrapture. I am buying it.

He stared at her for some seconds, smiled, then began to laugh.

'Naa Its my mine, Love' He exclaimed softly. Touching Rinsola on her cheek.

'Lets bid' she said.

'haha. Bid. Hmmm, bidding. If it does get to that, Be warned, I don't play fair.

'Grr Grr, Rinsola felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.
'Make sure you get it' the text read.

'Ugh' she snapped, tossing her phone back to her bag.

She looked up to find 'Nedo' as written on his band still staring at the piece.

'Okay, I am begging you now, leave this thing for me. Pls.'
Rinsola knew she sounded unflattering. Not the best time to care, she thought.

'You getting it for yourself?' He asked.

'No, for someone'.

'Hmm, someone special. He prononced the 'special' with the most organized diction Rinsola had heard.

The look on her face largely screamed 'irritation'.
'I reject that one to be special to me' she voiced in her head.

'I am getting it for someone special too. My baby. His face beamed, she's very special. He added.

'Baby? special? Rinsola repeated under her breath. 'Nigga is taken'.
'Alright Rin-Rin, he is taken This can't be a lose-lose. Get this!'

Rinsola's thought was interrupted by the voice of Peju Alatise. She stood at the centre of the gallery. Explaining the theme of her Art.

'I am yoruba, I am Nigerian, she started.
But I feel a large disconnect with my birthplace.
My art is my journey, my commentary is to question the hyprocrisy within all societies including my country'

Rinsola shifted her gaze from Peju to Nedo, he was still staring....staring at the piece.

'You seem to love this so much' said Rinsola, adjusting her turban for the umpteenth time.

'I am hoping she likes it. She loves art'

'Then why didn't she come along with you? Its a nice evening out here'

'Haha. Naa, she doesn't like being the centre of attention. Rather stay indoors'

'Hm, centre of attention. Is she that beautiful? Rinsola jested, irritably.

'She's blind' Nedo replied almost immediately.

'I am so sorry'

Rinsola felt the tears building up in her eyes. At full tilt, she turned away from Nedo, making her way to the other side of the gallery, holding her chest or her heart as she believed.

'Aw, I love this one' she stopped & drooled at another piece.

She took out her phone & began to text 'Boss'

'I couldn't get it Sir, but I got you another from the collection, I'm sorry'
