An adage says "Tough Time Don't Last but tough people do". When the going becomes so tough, the tough rugged it to the end. Same is not the case of the economic lullaby of Nigeria where the smartest hit the ground most.

Owing the rate at which naira value is depreciating coupled with economic pressure from drop in oil prices, the naira depreciation itself will soon discover oil.

Because of these circumstances people are frustrated, investors are discouraged, businesses are folding up, etc. But there are some lucrative business one can invest into without regretting and these business are;

Food

Even though the agricultural sector is facing economic pressure, people cannot do without eating. This is a significant business someone can venture into without biting his/her fingers. Commodities like food and cash crops fall under this category which has made subsistence people to becoming huge and commercial FMCG owners. We should recall that Aliko Dangote kick off his business tycoon idea from this sector.

Health services

As a result of the pressure and dangers people face daily, deteriorated health condition sets in as people visit hospital and pharmaceutical centres. I have never seen a pharmacist store which recorded low customers turn up except if their products is fake. So either there is recession or not, this is a business one can invest in.

Retail Discount Business

Large retail store outlets like spar, shoprite, etc provide fair price commodities to customers using their financial muscle. With the scintillating and friendly atmosphere, customers will be willing to sacrifice luxury goods for cheap but quality goods as manufacturers of these cheap goods make profit.

Alcohol and Fun Business

No matter how hard the economic situation maybe, companies like Nigeria breweries, Guinness, etc make profit. So in order to wipe away sorrow and depression, people visit lounges, bars, peppersoup joints, cinemas, shows and listen to music which brings money to those people in the business.

Recharge card business

Statistics show that almost 70% of Nigerian population are active mobile subscribers (either voice/data). Recharge card don't get spoilt like perishable goods and it is a business one can start from as people can't do without making call or surfing the internet.
