Smoke and soot do me no good,

The fire gives me life

The ashes show me my ashes.

The world has become an impossible place

Because the fire stopped burning

The fire that I killed in cold blood

And left behind.

It is myself I left behind

Alone in the woods

The snail is my predator

I am unsafe. I am on the run

So take me down the aisle of hope

And wed me to faith again

I want to rekindle that fire

I want to live again.
