What Happened To Nigeria highlife and Afro Juju Music? by Nobody: 2:02pm On Jul 21, 2015
Yesterday I was listening to some old school Nigeria music and remembering the good old days and comparing it with our present day Nigeria when suddenly I was over come by sudden sadness and before you know it I started crying.

How did we allow our great country to come to such a pathetic state? ??

Where is the love ?

Back in the days (80s and 90s.) an Igbo person can eat and in some days i even sleep in our hausa man house without fear of anything.

Can I try that now ?

And on a serious note what the hell is happening to our Afro-Juju music?

Do we still have young high life musicians in Nigeria?

Can't our musicans sing anything other than BIG BUMBUM and COME AND DO ?

Where is our Afro-Juju music identity?

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

Anyway me I still listen to this songs day in day out. And they are far better than UKWU AND CHOP MY MONEY.

Music and culture evolves..
most people have simply evolved and moved on.

but if you pay close attention, elements of this musical era have fused and left behind traceable elements in Nigerian music of today.
Listen to Ojuelegba by Wizkid ft Drake & Skepta for example.

Just listen to traditional artists from your ethnic group. That's the closest thing you'll get.
