Money is important. We would be the greatest liars if we told you that it isn’t, but sometimes we forget that there are other thing in life that happens to be more valuable than money.

1. Time with your family

If you lose money, you can always make more. But once spent, you can never make time back. Luckily it doesn’t take a long time to make great memories. Tell your kids a story for five minutes. Make them laugh. You can do one thing every day that they’ll remember

2. Writing down ideas

Ideas are more valuable than money. Income has gone down versus inflation for 40 years. But ideas can grow and build and spread and touch everyone you know and then everyone they know.

3. Experiences

What was your favorite Christmas? The one where you got an amazing present? Or one you created beautiful memories with the people you love? They say “you can’t take it with you” but your experiences are like treasures you store in your mind and can play with for the rest of your life

4. Giving

Giving is a soft boomerang. You throw it hard as you can it touches everyone around. And then it flies back into your hand. And you know what? You catch it, that feels like fun. Fun is a game. Fun is also better than money.

5. Laughing

Laugher makes you happier and healthier. It makes you feel better. It makes you live longer. But you cant buy laughter. No one can pay you to laugh. But if you’re willing to search for it you can find it everywhere.

6. Persistence is more valuable than money

Everyone dreams of doing something important, but only the persistent achieve. Persistence lets you touch people. Persistence lets you share your ideas. Persistence gets people excited about those ideas. Persistence gets you paid for those ideas.

7. Ideas for other people

Start coming up with “10 Ideas to Make X Better” where X might be a person or a business. Then send the list to X. maybe one out of 50 will respond. But that’s ok. That’s all it takes to make millions

8. Your DNA

You, reading this right now, you will die in 40 – 60 years, give or take 100. But your DNA will live on. The best thing you can do for your DNA is to leave a legacy. Money disappears in only a generation or two, but your ancestors, your ideas, the light you shared with others can live forever.

9. Physical health

A huge percentage of people die within a year of retirement. It goes to show that you can’t postpone health to make money. You might die before you get a chance to spend it. Instead be healthy every day so you can live a long and happy life.

10.You

Too many people attach their self worth to their bank account. Their job title. The things they own. But you’re an amazing combination of atoms and neurochemicals and experiences and interest. You’re amazing.
