Murray spoiled Ivan [b]Ljubicic's birthday celebrations with a 7-5 7-6(6) victory over the Croatian, holding his nerve in a tight second-set tiebreak.

Meanwhile, Federer extended his record to 3-0 against the in-form Fernando Verdasco [/b]with a dominant 6-3 7-6 victory.

The other two men's quarter-finals are slated for Friday, when [b]Nadal [/b]will take on sixth-seeded Argentinian Juan Martin [b]del Potro and defending champion Djokovic [/b]clashes with seventh-seeded American Andy [b]Roddick.

There is now a simple way to beat Federer at least over 2 sets; dump high bouncing balls (excellent tactic on clay) to his backhand and it turns into an error vending machine. Make sure you take all the pace off the ball, he cant generate any of his own.

Bravo Rafa for helping others figure the way out.

By the way Rafa rolls over Murray 6-1, 6-2. Clearly an uninjured, well rested Rafa is now a match for anyone even on a hard court. Forget about clay and grass for now.
