As simple as it sounds, happy marriages are based on a foundation of friendship. Friendship is about companionship, acquaintance, familiarity and closeness. A friend is someone who relates with you in love, respect, honesty, sincerity and loyalty. Building friendship in marriages is a vital thing in growing the marriage relationships. Happily married couples aren't smarter or more beautiful than others. They've simply learned to let their positive feelings about each other override their negative ones. They understand, honor, and respect each other. The word respect is hardly understood by couples. Respect is admiration, value, high opinion, and reverence of someone.
There has to be a measure of unity or agreement in the thoughts of the two individual involved in the union. Marriage is a UNION. For a union to be established there has to be measure of unity in the thoughts and life style of the person’s involved. An intended couple should establish a culture of repeated verbal communication to breed a strong friendship which in turn produces harmony in the home

One other vital thought in growing relationship in marriages is agreement in fundamental aspect of life like (religion, faith, belief, educational standard, age difference, work status, tribal issues, and personal status). These are vital issues in life that if not considered at first would eventually lead to problems.
