What is believed to be exploitation via the new plate number registration amounting to #10,000 for public okada riders has led over 2,000 riders to take to the street to demonstrate 3days ago,an action that took the effort of force men to discard the militant okada riders. Governor Olusegun Mimiko has subsequently announced the suspension of all okada riders on all major roads in Akure metropoly with effect from 25th of July,2015. It became imperative in lure of what the government termed insecurity viz-a-viz kidnapping,theft,road accident and what have you. This would be a welcomed development if the motive is unbiased and sincere. Cognisance should however be paid to: 1)increase in crime rate as an idle man is the devil's workshop,2)increase unemployment rate as even educated people have taken to okada riding due to lack of gainful employment, 3)transportation challenges as okada provide door-to-door services. Cardinal way forward: 1) A 3-month notification should be given before this action is been effected. 2) job opportunities should be created for unemployed youths within the state. 3)Workers unpaid allowances,arrears and salaries should be paid as this as become a national issue. 4)Students should be paid their bursary and scholarship over 2 sessions.I hereby huge the governor to revert its earlier decision. It won't,introduce keke to reduce accidents by shekpe drunk riders...we are always scared of change,funny enough,Nigerians adapt anywhere anyhow anyway,anyday.

Is it those that are managing lil income from the okada riding that will be able to afford keke? No. Has the govt put any alternative on ground? No. Mind u,there are OND and degree holders among them.I live here and I relate with them. Has the govt done anything to improve unemployment? No. So,what are u talking abt.?
