Applications are now open for the ELANO INVESTMENT LIMITED POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME for graduates from the host communities of Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals Limited.

The postgraduate scholarship scheme is managed by the British Council on behalf of Elano Investment Limited and will support postgraduate degree study at selected universities in the UK in the academic year 2015/16. It is targeted specifically at graduates from the host communities of Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals Limited.

The scheme aims to support indigenes of the host communities of Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals Ltd in their ambitions to develop the required skills to become future leaders of industry. It is designed to provide a platform for further development to individuals who are committed to the development of their local communities and interested in making a real contribution to their local environment and country at large.

WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS

This is a fully funded scholarship and it will cover the following:
•Scholar flights to and from the UK
•Monthly scholar maintenance fees for the duration of the scholarship
•Full Course Tuition Fees
•Visa application fees

FOCUS AREAS

Postgraduate degree study in the following subject areas is supported:
•Business - Engineering - Environment - IT - Law - Public Health

SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
•Completed a first degree with a minimum 2.2 (second class lower degree)
•Have completed their NYSC by 1 October 2015
•Be under 30 years old on 1 October 2015
•Be indigenes of one of the host communities of Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, by which their father must be from one of the communities.
•Provide the names and contact details of two community leaders in the Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals host communities who will be their referees.
•Be in possession of a valid international passport by 1 July 2015.

DEADLINES:
•Application platform opens July 2015 and closes on Friday, 31st July 2015.

Scholarship Eligibility

In order to be eligible to apply for the EIL Post Graduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Indigenous background

The EIL Post Graduate Scholarship Scheme is open to indigenes of the host communities of Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, by which their father must be from one of the communities. The scholarship is on offer to such individuals from the general public, from private and public sector and from non-governmental organisations.

Academic qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2) Degree classification or higher from a Nigerian University.

Passport validity

Applicants must be in possession of an international passport issued before 1st July 2015 and valid for at least the duration of their intended studies abroad.

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

Applicants must have completed their NYSC by 1st October 2015

Access to supporting documents and information

Successful applicants will be contacted to submit supporting documents. These may include originals and photocopies of:

•degree certificates


•academic transcripts


•WASSCE, NECO, IGCSE certificates


•birth certificate


•NYSC certificate


•valid international passport


•recent passport photograph


•letters from two host community leaders in the Indorama/Eleme Petrochemicals host communities confirming your ethnicity and providing a character reference

• two additional references, at least one of which must be academic.


Terms and Conditions

Application

Your application (including anything you add at interview or afterwards) should be accurate, not omit any facts that are relevant and not be misleading. If we find that there are significant errors or omissions in the information you have supplied to us in the course of your application you will not be offered a scholarship, or you will have your scholarship withdrawn or terminated.

Selection

The selection process will be fair. No applicant will have, or should seek or accept, any unfair advantage. No member of the British Council or Elano Investment Limited will unfairly promote or disadvantage the interests of any applicant. If we find that you have secured an unfair advantage in the selection process we reserve the right not to offer you a scholarship, or withdraw or terminate your scholarship.

University Placement

We will place scholars who are successful at interview within institutions that fit their course requirements. But if we cannot find a suitable course at a suitable institution (perhaps because all the places have already been allocated) then we reserve the right to withdraw the offer of a scholarship. Our policy is not to allow applicants to defer. An applicant who has not secured a place on a suitable course will have to reapply again.

Medical

We expect all applicants to reveal all relevant details in the medical form that accompanies their application, if necessary provided in confidence, in a sealed envelope, addressed to the Elano Investment Limited Postgraduate Scholarship officer at the British Council to ensure your privacy is protected. If you are offered a scholarship it will be conditional on a further satisfactory medical report. If that medical report is not satisfactory we reserve the right to withdraw the offer of a scholarship. If you are successful at interview it will be in your interest to arrange for your medical report to be completed as soon as possible. You must not make commitments, especially commitments with financial consequences, until you know that your medical report is satisfactory.

Entry clearance

You must tell us when you apply if there is anything (such as previous convictions or associations with terrorist organisations) that may be an impediment to securing a visa or entry clearance to study in the UK. If we find that we cannot provide you with a visa for any reason then we will withdraw the offer of a scholarship. You should not make commitments, especially commitments with financial consequences, unless you are certain that there will be no impediment to you securing a visa or entry clearance to study.

Changes of circumstances

If your circumstances change by an event or events that are genuinely beyond your control, or in ways that are generally unexpected, you should contact us immediately. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that you can take up your scholarship, perhaps by providing extra support or finding an alternative course at an institution that can provide such support. But we reserve the right to withdraw the offer of a scholarship if we feel that the circumstances are such that this is in the best interests of the applicant or Elano Investment Limited.
