Nothing tells a story about your day and your style more than your wedding colors and how it’s coordinated. From your dance floor to your wedding cake, invitations, centerpieces, and even the
bridal train, the color at your wedding reception gives people an insight into who you are.
Just as location is important to choosing a wedding date, the same applies to your color. When deciding or choosing a color combination, it’s important that you consider the reception venue’s color, carpet and furniture or better still, choose a space without decor or color.
Once you’ve decided a primary color of choice, then choose coordinating colors. You can visit a local fabric store, browse through fashion magazines or better still, use sites that provide matching colors such as this:

Choose Your Theme
The color you pick should depend on the mood you are trying to create. So think about this as you pick colors. Do you want a high-energy party? A regal romantic affair? An island themed vibe?
The way you mix and match colors can set off different moods. For example, a vibrant summer yellow mixed with chocolate brown is perfect for a country-chic wedding style; add gold to the mix, and the combination becomes more reminiscent of Northern Italy. As another example, leaf green paired with copper gives a color scheme that’s formal enough for a ballroom or an estate setting.

Bridal Attire
I am glad to see some brides stepping out of the box and adding colors to their wedding gown. Your gown doesn’t have to be solid white. A blue or red sash around the waist is striking and still very bridal. Typically, the groom and the groomsmen wear colored ties or cufflinks amongst others but color will be most prominently displayed throughout the day in the bridesmaid dresses. Mixing and matching dresses in varying shades — pink and orange, or pale green and yellow — can sometimes make a statement stronger than uniformity.
Invitation
Your invitations set the stage for the event, so remember to evoke the mood you choose. This can be as easy as choosing a colored font, ribbon, or monogram or as elaborate as layering colorful cards.

Flowers & Decor
No matter what color you’ve chosen, chances are you’ll be able to find flowers in that shade (cost on the other hand is a different story). If all else fails, use neutral white flowers with centerpiece containers or other decor elements in your color.

Wedding Cake
The cake is one of the easiest places to add color. Make sure you work with your cake decorator to pick a design and style that reflects your color. Think colorful patterns, sugar flowers, sugar-paste stripes or polka dots, figurines or many more.

While it is important to give something meaningful and useful as favors versus something that matches, incorporating colors into your favors will be nice. Just make sure you consider how they will look with your wedding linens and flowers.
Whatever you do, don’t over-do things. Avoid over matching. Begin with the five essential wedding elements (attire, invitations, flowers, cake, and favors) and see where you can or should add more color. Afterward, consider details such as napkins, candles, signature drinks, your ring pillow, or your guest book, made from the same fabric and in the same color as the bridesmaid dresses. This should get you started!
