Being a psychiatrist can be no fun. I can imagine working with some of the patients whose demonic possession only masquerade as insanity. Even the presence of security personnel might not be able to provide adequate safety. It takes specialised equipment but above all regular prayers to overcome hazard such patients posed.

You probably have not seen a horrible psychiatric patient in action. If you do,you will run for cover. Those people face grave risk everyday. Their challenge is not the same as those other careers you sited. It involves working with those who have practically lost their minds,those that can be horribly violent, inflict injuries on their care-givers and not feel any remorse. In all honesty some of their patients as far as I am concerned are just possessed individuals. It's really scary doing their kind of job. They need protection.

I believe that these nurses are being modest and diplomatic in speech.

What they are saying is that mad people molest them. Its traumatic seeing a mad person thrusting in and out like he's dying immediately while smiling sheepishly and the poor nurse be like crying with no help until the mad man has been satisfied.

I had a one year internship programme in this said Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in 2014/2015. These patients are very unpredictable, they can be flowing with you when communicating with them and just change all of a sudden. They are very violent at times and eventually relapse especially when they are not taking their drugs but once they are on their drugs, they are usually mentally stable.I was a witness of violent threats by several of them but it is usally these trained guards popularly called 'CRISIS' at Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital that do tame and bring them under control. I advocate more of these guards should be recruited.

So, when a patient is violent, the few untrained ones would be on the edge because they do not know the next step to take. This offers the violent patient the opportunity to run away.
