Why not place yourself in a situation where an hippo is trying to slice you with one bite into halves, then ask it, "What happens to conservation?" and find out whether it'll conserve you undecided

Your education is sheer waste! Can't believe people like you went through school. I blame the system in Nigeria. Try and expose yourself just a little bit!
Re: Photos Of A Mighty Hippopotamus Caught In Gombe State Today by TheHeGoat: 2:21pm On Aug 06, 2015
This is absolutely animal abuse. God will deal with all of them torturing the poor creature. Hippos don't attack people unless when they're attacked or threatened. Just look at the way the old fools turned it upside down. That's how God will turn their lives upside down too. Why can't u humans let us live in peace? Bastards! angry

WE DONT NEED TO KILL THIS ANIMAL.
any animal that proves too stubborn to be captured alive is to be killed.
you saw clearly the part where it's stated that it has been terrorizing farmers. do you know how many lives or properties it has destroyed

[When will nigerians wake up to reality. This hippopotamus can generate huge income to Nigeria via wildlife but they choose to eat it as meats. You are all glutinous. Wake up Nigerians pls.

^^^But here in Nigeria they're probably already sat down without a care in the world....waiting to be served a delicious hot plate of Hippo pepper-soup, washed down with some chilled Nkwobi! sad

It is disheartening! You can imagine how much NatGeo, AnimalPlanet, Discovery world etc give to the Kenyan economy to shoot their programs not to talk of the millions of dollars brought in by the tourists just to come watch the wilderbeast migration, where millions of wild animals migrate from one end to another, hotel rates are usually high during this season! While we are always carried away by steaming plates of pepper soup! angry

Poor hippo, endangered species definitely
It's a vegetarian and doesn't attack unless disturbed or someone breaches its territory
SMH.. undecided

Hippos have been scientifically verified and proven to be meat eaters too, so in reality they are omnivores. Although they are largely plant eaters, they do consume meat like carrion leftovers from crocs etc, and in fact they have been proven to predate sometimes, deliberately hunting down prey like impalas etc while trying to cross a river; and even practice cannibalism where they intentionally kill and eat themselves. You can check out YouTube for videos documenting hippos eating meat. And do you know there are more human deaths recorded by hippos than lions? So you might want to repaint that benign plant-eater hippo perspective you have in your mind. Hippos are very wildly dangerous and violently aggressive creatures. They don't always attack because they are threatened or encroached upon. Sometimes, they attack simply because THEY CAN and WANT TO.

https://uk.linkedin.com/pub/leejiah-dorward/93/a72/b30 *Leejiah made a recent publication on hippo cannibalism.
