Facts are beginning to emerge on how the immediate past governor of Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola mismanaged the resources of the state.

Fashola, who was a governor for eight year, executed a lot of laudable projects for the state. He achieved a lot in Infrastructural development, Education and Security. But some shocking details of his financial dealings and contract awards are begging for some answers.

Investigation by TheFocus revealed that in 2014, the Lagos State Government under Governor Babatunde Fashola, awarded a contract of N 78,300,000.00 to Info Access Plus Limited for upgrade of a personal website of the governor.

The contract was awarded by the office of Chief of staff to the governor

According to the 2014 budget report on the website of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, The website – www.tundefashola.com is meant to be used by the governor after May 29, 2015 hand-over.

Our investigation revealed that the cost of such website should not be more than N 300,000.

It is therefore surprising that Fashola will award the contract for the upgrade of his personal website with tax payers money at the cost of N 78,300,000.00

Similar fact emerged this week when a civil society group, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) petitioned President President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him not to consider Fashola for any appointment.

The group in their petition alleged that the former governor awarded a 1.36km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge at the cost of N25bn. But the cost of constructing the bridge was actually N6bn.

Some of these finding are pointing to the reason why the former governor left the state in a very bad financial state.

It will be recalled that Fashola handed a debt profile of N418billion to the new administration of Akinwunmi Ambode
