AFRICA'S FIRST BLACK MEDICAL DOCTOR WAS SOUTH AFRICAN, SAME CAN BE SAID ABOUT THE 1ST NURSE, JOURNALIST BETWEEN 1860-1900. Note by 1860s when we were sending our people to study in Scotland west Africa was still practicing ATLANTIC SLAVERY. grin grin grin grin grin grin
This led the Brits to start Apartheid laws in 1912 then gave the Boers to strengthen racist laws that blocked all non whites from education.

If you talk of the BRITISH EDUCATION SYSTEM some coastal blacks in S.A. have been thru this system since 1840s and produced doctors and other professionals by 1860s when WEST AFRICA was still practicing ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE. The last SLAVE SHIPS sailed around WEST AFRICA in 1860s till 1900s. Selling fellow africans to Europeans your ancestors got mirrors and beads in return while whites got CHEAP LABOUR and their economies boomed while TRIBAL tensions continued in West Africa till today.

In 1960s our local newspapers were already teaching our people about dangerous of colonialism. grin grin grin

Your academics know the truth....for us by us. We had a choice of being HOUSE NEGROES and sellouts of our own country.

Re: The 10 Oldest Universities In Africa (pictures) by AmenhotepZuid: 5:16pm On Jul 20, 2016
Between 1658-1770 there were few whites (Germans,Dutch,French,Swedes and Norwegians working for the Dutch co. VOC) in Cape Town harbour Z.A. less than 16 000 souls and most were sailors who worked the Dutch East India companies sailing from Europe to India trading on SPICES AND other staff. Blacks were trading with Khoisan people and the Khoi told their black neighbours of these funny pale people. Contacts between the blacks and whites started in 1770s and resulted in wars. These wars started with Xhosas, then Zulus then inland people like Sothos etc...By 1867-1900 wars died out due to MINERAL WEALTH DISCOVERIES and people got along not until Brits noticed non whites were out numbering whites in urban areas. Land laws started and APARTHEID started in full mode in 1948-1990.

Before that there were multi racial areas in S.A. urban areas like DISTRICT SIX Cape Town, SOPHIATOWN Joburg where JAZZ was trending. cool cool grin grin

multi ethnic legends who unified our people early in the 1860s....these were mainly educated overseas they came EC, KZN,Gauteng and NW.
We are building NEW UNIVERSITIES named after some these legends and am sure after 20 years these will be in the TOP 20 in AFRICA.

Re: The 10 Oldest Universities In Africa (pictures) by AmenhotepZuid: 12:48pm On Jul 21, 2016
grin grin grin grin the FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR Z.A. NEW UNIVERSITIES. Named after legends who were educated overseas while other regions of Africa were busy selling each other during ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE. It took Brits to end slavery. West Africans have been enslaving each other even before they met Arabs and Europeans their customers who got CHEAP LABOUR in return for mirros, beads, fabrics etc...Yes your nigerian ancestors were NAKED before they met these two groups.
