In American, evicting a family member or guest from one's house is not uncommon. It happens all the time. To Americans it's not a big deal; to immigrants in America, it could be hard. It's rare for a U.S. based Nigerian to file an eviction lawsuit. It happens a lot with countless of Americans who had to call the police on their sons, daughters, and relatives to move out. Vice versa - imagine a son trying to kick his mom out of his house because she does not pay rent and causing a bunch of problems! Just imagine. (YOUR MOTHER). It happens a lot and it usually ends with;this is my house. I pay the bills, get out of my house. Family members and friends can wear out their welcome through an over-extended stay. Since the U.S. based African is the one who promised the guests (a lottery immigrant, someone who overstayed their Visa) a place to stay in America; its almost a sense of duty. When African immigrants in America are ready to evict their guest best belief it, civility is out of the door. Unfortunately, living with someone you have no connection with other than being from the same hometown or a friend of a friend doesn't always work out. The African immigrants in America who is the lawful owner of the resident will not want to be rude; instead they employ these 5 tactics: 1. style-style formation. Instead of serving the house guest, a legal eviction notice. They dance around and employ what I called the style-style formation. The host (U.S. based African) start by telling you about how their relations wanted to come to America, but to no avail; Style by style they will show you an old (electricity, heating or water) bill of what they used to pay and a new bill showing what they currently pays since you arrived. 2.You snore too much Everything was fine untill your host says you snore too much. If your breathing is obstructed in any way while you lay down in bed, or while you're sleeping. You are in trouble. This situation usually happens if you share a one bedroom apartment with your host. 3. Did you touch my soup? the lawful owner of the resident (U.S. based African) has resort to putting labels on food and identifying things as MINE, or YOURS. The host will position his food in a certain way that if the guest touches it. He or she will know. 4. The fake eviction letter The house owner goes to the library. The U.S. based African goes to the library, To do what?. To type a fake eviction letter and post it to the residence. In the letter you will find something like "we have noticed that you have two or more people living with you for the past three months, as clearly stated in the lease, no tenant is allowed to have a visitor(s) more than a week. We will be terminating your tenancy, and evict you from the property in fifteen days, if your visitors were found on the property. 1 Like |

@azeezakande, you are on point. Every nation has her culture, chemistry or makeup and over all practices. When you go to work in the morning and your home boy stays are home, have the t.v on all day which consumes 60% of electricity, the air is on for summer or heater on for winter ( depends which type you use, electric or gas), runs water like crazy and go to the refrigerator and eat breakfast and lunch, by the time you are coming back tire say 5,6, or 7pm as the case may be, you may not even have food in the refrigerator to eat, them you start making food or try to order some food been tired. Friends you do this for 3 months, by the 4th month you will be tire and start reacting. Now for husband and wife still thesame. Bills are slipt or paid accordingly, according to what they earn, unless your spouse earns 6 figures them his wife may now be a home sit mum, taking care of the kids. Now lets enlighten our selves on how you spend money or money gets dugout each month. Please this is for all of our benefit 1. Rent or mortgage as the case may be (monthly) 2. Car note (monthly) 3. Car insurance (monthly) 4. Electric or gas bill depends which one you use (monthly) 5. Water bill ( monthly) 6. Disposal and recycling (monthly if you have a house or every three months if you are renting also depends on the city if they operate monthly or not) 7. Health Insurance taken out of your monthly pay check ( monthly) 8. Uncle sam (taxes) ( monthly) from pay stubs 9. Social security ( monthly) 10. Medicaid (monthly) 11. Retirement eg 401k and so on ( monthly) 12. Gas in your car (weekly) 13. Groceries (weekly) 14. Other retirement plans such as IRA etc 15. Home owners association fee ( for home owners ) depends where you leave and the type. 16. Home insurance if not included in your mortgage ( for home owners) 17. Property taxes (for home owners) depends how you city designs it may be quarterly, bimonthly, every six months etc. 18. Credit card bills if any (monthly) 19..student loan if any (monthly) 20. The craziest (high way tolls) 21. Day care if you have children or baby sitter (monthly) 22. Car insurance (monthly) And the list goes on and on. Remember 90% of the list above is on a monthly bases. There are other list to mention but will keep it minimal for now. That is why people react the way they do, most people choose not to come home not too often. Life in states is not easy, unless you are doing small illegal stuffs. Even those in the medical field still do not get it easy. They still have to work like crazy, some 80hrs a week double the required given, just for overtime pay, which a lot still go to uncle sam (irs or taxes) Good topic though Good Luck on this quest 1 Like |
