A Father's Prayer

May my son never be my grandson nor my daughter my granddaughter.

May I never touch what is holy in an unholy way and blame the devil, for if he cannot push me off a cliff,
he cannot push me to lust for my child. Every child is my child.

May I never say “it was the devil or the child” who should know better? Every child in my care is precious.
Every moment of honest care is to be treasured.

May I helm my urges and feel nothing than a father’s love for my child(ren) and cherish them for the joy they bring.
My child does not deserve my lust but my love.

May they rot in their flesh who defile children, theirs or others?
For they give free reign to their filth and wreck a tender life forever.

May those who change their ways pay with remorse the rest of their lives,
for it will never be right no matter who says it, that it is okay to abuse them.

May I scream the loudest where I see the abuse of a child. If I walk away, may it be to get help.
If I do nothing, may my sleep be just a lying down without rest.

For when I abuse a child, I bite a seed before it is planted. How do I expect it to grow?
