I personally think it is waste but each to his/her own. I don't see the point of doing a PhD, if it's just to show on paper, especially nursing.

Quick questions for you. How do you improve on nursing intervention if there are no further research to compare old and existing nursing practices with emerging ones? Since patients are not all the same, how do know what intervention is suitable for a particular case if there are no empirical evidence to support your care plan? How do you generate scientific knowledge to avoid instance of guess work since you are dealing with human life? The answer to all of these is in further nursing education, nurses with PhD are trained to discover new theories which are tested and applied in everyday practice.

You can not just hold onto previous knowledge or assume that things right because that is the way they have been done. Your argument for Tenacity and Prior is not inline with current nursing practice.

She maybe making more money from writing nursing books and organizing continuing education courses than she is making as a bed side nurse. People do bed side nursing because they love to care for those in need. Nursing is a calling not just a job to make ends meet. Unfortunately, these days you see those you have no business being a nurse go into the profession all because of job security.
