An uncompleted building collapsed at Agungi-Lekki very early this morning. It is not known if there were people inside the building when it collapsed but a LIB source at the scene said they heard workers saying they left one of their colleagues in the building and haven't seen him yet. Will bring an update later. More photos after the cut...

Despite all these raft, German floor, lintel, 100s of pillars........

If I built 30 homes in Nigeria, they all have to be one floor house. The weight we put on foundation of buildings in Nigeria is just too much.

Weight is not only the problem with some of these buildings, wood and bamboos are being removed from concrete that is not cure and then loaded with more weight. The rate of speed these young so called engineers and builders are rushing building from foundation to roofing level is alarming. I saw a 4 storey building here done in less than 3-4 months. Why the rush?
