FIFA have announced the dates for the 2022 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in Qatar. The 22nd World Cup will be staged from November 21 to December 18 in 2022. FIFA's executive committee confirmed the dates which means it will be the first ever winter World Cup. The change from the traditional summer tournament is to avoid Qatar's heat. The event will take place over 28 days, which is four less than usual. It's understood a shorter tournament was approved to lessen the disruption to leagues like the Premier League who will have to shut down mid-season.
