Dry Leave (a Poem) by lyricalpontiff(m): 2:21pm On Oct 09, 2015 |
I lie on this lonely footpath O! I have fallen from the top My demise is the aftermath I leave back tears for none to mop I lived a good life and of fame Who would ever think I’d turn sick? O! The whirlwinds, my killers came In comatose I await deaths’ pick I was royal, I was so green I was the dancer with the crown Look at me now, life is so mean I was once green, now dry and brown My fall did not shake the pillars Everyone missed me, I guess not My green brothers dance to the tune of my killers And a newborn will fill my spot I’ll die; no one will give a hoot See that man I shaded from the sun I cracked silently under his boot Others too will step on me for fun If only the world could feel my pain O! Mama Iyabo you too I shielded you under the rain Under me then, I was your boo I shall burn in that fire you’ll make Surely, my ashes you shall sweep Tell the birds not to cry me a lake And please tell the ants not to weep Teach them to know that life won’t last Let it echo that I am of earth Life is their kingdom but my past Read them my biography when I lose breath credit to irawe (dry leaves) by Hidentity 6 Likes 3 Shares

Wow! This is by no doubt one of the best pieces ever posted on Nairaland. Reading this, I could almost hear the brown leaf's wails in my ears. This is something else! Lyricalpontiff, the title. I think you wanted it to be 'leaf', didn't you? Can we have this on the frontpage? Cc: Dominique Lalasticlala Rocktation Seun |

This is awesome. The swift of word is okay but I don't think verse seven is necessary, its an expression with no objective |
