77 young writers and movie actors in south eastern Nigeria converged at the Orange Groove Premises Owerri, Imo State on Friday, October 2, 2015 for a Special Celebrity Workshop to share relevant information and brainstorm on 'Effective Campaign Against Broken Marriages' in the best interest of the Nigerian child.

Participants included Nigerian writers, popular movie directors and stars, who had made remarkable achievements in the industry. They resolved to use their successes towards promoting healthier celebrity marriages and protection of children.

Impressive performances by children thrilled participants who in turn, donated handsome gifts ranging from cash to material provisions to representatives of orphans and vulnerable children at the event.

Organized under the auspices of the Global Fund supported Association of Orphans and Vulnerable Children Non-Governmental Organizations in Nigeria (AONN) Imo State, and the UNICEF sponsored Child Protection Network (CPN), the event was convened by Chuma Mmeka the award winning Nigerian poet, author, actor and humanitarian whose explosive new poetry book 'The Broken Home' was a principal resource material at the occasion.

The book, a collection of poems presented in diverse forms tells the author's true life story of abusive childhood experiences while growing up under estranged parents. It reveals the psychological, emotional and social harm done to children in broken homes; showcasing suffering, derailment and exposure to disorientation and disaffection within the family and society. The book concludes with self encouragement boosters and high hopes for the future.

Chuma Mmeka is a Coordinator with AONN; and he declared at the one-day event "Fame will mean nothing, if we do not protect those who see us as role models. Let us expose, then find redress for the ills of society; and in all, think of our children first".
