Actuarial science is said to be one of the most un-common proffesional courses in Nigeria based on the current economy, and its been said that Actuarial scientists stand a 5% chance of securing a job in Nigeria. But those are based on speculations, thats why i decided to create this thread so tha actuarial scientists can share their own first hand experiences of what its been like so far as an actuarial scientist, how the job hunt has been, if youre currently employed, if the pay is comfortable, how long it took you to get a job, or if you will advice any one to study the course here in nigeria based on the current economy.. Please your replies will really be appreciated because they are people out there who really need these infos and advices

I'm a trained Actuary. Studied Actuarial Science/Insurance. About going for M.sc in Act. Sc in UK. This field is so so unexploited in Nigeria. Just get in it and u'll get offers you wouldn't even believe. Everybody wanna go for big big courses, but I know what I've got. Reason why Nigeria doesn't value Actuaries is the prevalence of square pegs in round holes. Trust me, if you read the course and know the course, Companies will beg for your services. 101%

Unilag offers actuarial science to jambites on a platter of gold with cut off mark as low as 52. Once u are good with calculations this course won't be a problem

I actually learnt unilag actuarial sci degree isn't reckoned with by SOA nor FSA because most of their lecturers there av not taken d professional exams
