The fact that there are no perfect synonyms in English is a great relief for me as I delve into demystifying the differences between world closest synonyms. Destiny and fate are very much related that even the world's most renowned professor of English will at a time confuse one for the other.
.
The good thing here is that I am not writing on English, I am writing on the interplay of the forces of destiny and fate as they relate to the philosophy of life.
.
Destiny is like a manuscript which an actor acts on. Fate is the charisma needed by an actor to act out the manuscript. Every fortune or ordeal a man enjoys or endures in life is his destiny. No matter how hard he tries, either is sure to be his. It has been written prior to his birth by forces beyond his understanding. Any attempt to question the forces will be tantamount to hiting one's head on a wall.
.
Just like the actor's charisma, fate is the product of a man's handwork. The law of karma is a universal law: what goes around comes around. You can quicken or delay your destiny by the definition of your fate. What you do from time to time has a direct relation with how quick you have to get to your destination. Work hard and pray hard and success will smile at you.
.
Destiny can sometimes be a sour one. Life is not a bed of roses: in fact, roses itself has thorns. People ask if one could be destined to face challenges. Yes. What doesn't brake you only makes you stronger. Imagine if man was not destined to fail in the garden of Eden, life would have been without challenges but man would be stationary in progress. Just as one can be destined to be rich, one can also be destined to be mad. But a question needs to be answered. What is the handwork(fate) of both men? Is one toiling the soil in the sun with the sweet sweat as his water and the other an admirer of money ritual? Of course, one of the consequences of indulging in money ritual is to run mad and a possible benefit of hardwork is wealth. Destiny is like science, fate is like the technology. It is fate that brings out destiny and in reality, fate is what truly exists, at least, it is more obvious. Science will be vague without technology, so does fate decides a man's destiny. Without electric bulb(technology), Faraday's effort will be lame(science). Without good omen(fate), destiny will be idle and useless. If technology is science, fate is destiny.
.
The confusion between destiny and fate should exist only in the dictionary. Man must realise that he needs hardwork to bring his destiny close to him. An admission seeking aspirant that wastes his time on social media is as good as failure. A poor Cristiano Ronaldo that works hard in training can become the best footballer. Cristiano may have been destined to be world best footballer but without hardwork which is his handwork, he may have to wait to become that at a 'late' stage of his life. It is fate (what you do) that draws destiny closer.
.
One good and interesting thing about destiny is that it can never change. Our elders say, "destiny can not be changed but only delayed". What is it that can delay destiny? Indolence, negligence of hardwork and prayer. Don't forget to always work and pray and always do good. Enemies will wage war. If you have no enemies to wage war against you, you are someone without glory. But when they wage war, the only weapon to fight back with is prayer. Prayer is something you have chosen to do and that is fate. The good works you have chosen to do is your fate. Prayer and hard work coupled with good works will get you closer to your destiny. Always do the best you can. Do not conclude you have done your best until your best is no longer needed. Can your best ever be no longer needed? What you do is what you get in life.
.
There are times you need to forget about destiny, you don't know when it was being written for you. Focus more on fate, check your excesses and put on the garment of hardwork. God in His mercy will bless us with the knowledge of good and evil.
