1.Be confident in yourself. If you have properly prepared for your exams, you should do just fine - trust yourself and don't worry unnecessarily.
2. Manage your expectations. Most of us want to be the best but it is more important to feel well-prepared than to feel like you need to score the highest marks. Setting unrealistic goals for yourself can add additional pressure that you really don't need right now.
3.Be proactive to overcome problems. If you're struggling to understand a concept whilst studying, don't give up or start panicking. This will only make the situation worse. Instead, address the problem head on by getting help from your teacher, lecturer, a tutor or a classmate.
4.Don't shy away from support. Speaking to a supportive family member or friend can really help you relieve tension and feel better about yourself. Don't bottle up your emotions - this will only add to your stress.
5. Maintain perspective. Exams, especially Matric or university finals, can feel like the be-all and end-all of your entire life but the truth is that they're amongst many challenges you will face in life. Try to replace your negative thoughts with more positive ones. When you're doubting yourself, remind yourself that you can do this.
6. Plan your study timetable. Leaving too much of your revision too late would make any student stress out. Divide your material up into manageable chunks and tackle it section by section. Set daily goals for what you would like to accomplish and try to stick to them as far as possible.
7. Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.Regularly exercising can help to reduce anxiety and stress. Also, try to avoid too much sugar or caffeine - these might give you a pick-me-up but they will cause you to crash later on. Taking an omega-3 supplement can help to boost your concentration.
8. Know what the exam entails.Be sure you know the full details of your exams to avoid last minute panic. Find out what materials you need to take with you, what time you need to be seated and so forth.
9. Practise, practise, practise.Get your hands on as many past papers and tests that you can find and spend time going through them thoroughly. Time yourself to ensure that you are working through each question fast enough. Highlight your weak areas and focus on those.
10. Get enough sleep.Pulling an all-nighter the night before the exam is never a good idea. It is best to go into the exam well-rested and with a clear mind. Make sure you are getting enough sleep in the days before the exam and get to bed early the night before.
