British Film Institute (BFI) in Lagos in conjunction with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the ZAAFA Awards, presents the Lagos Filmmaker Masterclass

Nigerian films have enriched the BFI’s UK public film programme in the past decade
and their exhibition responds to the growing needs of a large UK based, Nigerian and
African community. In addition, the BFI has provided production support for UK based
Nigerian film makers in recent years.

David Somerset, Education Programmer at the BFI Southbank will deliver an
illustrated presentation about the role of BFI Film Education in support of the UK’s
film industry. This will be the first visit of David Somerset, on behalf of BFI
Education, to Nigeria, and continues his deep interest and support for Nigerian
culture.

Nadia Denton, Film Industry Specialist, Publicist and Author of The Nigerian
Filmmaker’s Guide to Success: Beyond Nollywood will deliver a session titled No-One
Cares About Your Film: A Grassroots Approach to Marketing, Film Festivals and
Distribution.

Tony Warner, is Director of Black History Walks in London and Chair of the African
Odysseys programme strand at the BFI Southbank. He will talk about cultural
education as well as using film to develop appreciation of cinema and raise
discussion around politics, identity and history. He will also talk on increasing
box office via diverse audiences.
