In an industry like mine, you’re constantly in danger of believing your own hype. If God has blessed you the abilities and you’re good at what you do, you will be constantly surrounded by obsequious flatterers and fawners who are quick to sing your praises and tell you “how great thou art”.
You gotta admit it. It feels good. After all, doesn’t everyone need some form of validation and some ego stroking? Maybe.
You see, the danger of ego stroking is the good feeling doesn’t really last. You feel good for a while and then, the truth hits you smack on the face and you can’t lie to yourself anymore.

their tongues slick as mudslides.”


The danger of believing your own hype is it blinds you from areas you need to work on. The more you listen to men, the less you listen to the spirit of God. Your actions and your decisions become guided and directed by the approving comments from your “fans”. But learn something today, fans live up to what they are called. Like a fan, they are blown left to right and roundabout by the wind. They are unstable and they will move on if something or someone else catches their fancy.


Don’t be deceived. There is nothing like a “true fan”. If God has placed you on a platform, do not seek to gather fans. Seek to impact lives and make a lasting difference in their lives. At the end of your assignment, the admiration isn’t for you, it should be directed towards the God who has called you and blessed you with that gift.

“Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.”
Don’t let praise singing and admiration and statements like “I’m such a huge fan” make you compromise on the truth and the way of righteousness because you want to remain liked.
