8 Reasons To Inspire Your Inner Business Mogul [MUST READ] by horizonhotspot(m): 7:58pm On Oct 29, 2015
Being your own boss can be great. A life filled with purpose, the satisfaction of building something real and investing in yourself are rewarding benefits former employees who took the plunge of small business ownership often reap. Maybe these same factors resonate deep within you and have you longing for entrepreneurship. Instead of looking at the reasons not to, it is time to look at the reasons you should.

1. You have a desire to solve problems, not push paper

Perhaps you got into your field on purpose; maybe you have ten years experience, maybe thirty. That is not important, what is important is the feeling of satisfaction after a hard days work, which pushing papers and being a cog in the machine simply cannot provide. During the Industrial Revolution, a group of people called the Luddites, smashed labor saving machines in newly built factories because they felt their purposeful jobs were being destroyed and workers were becoming dehumanized cogs. Maybe they were on to something…it may be time for you to leave, just don’t smash your computer on the way out.

2. Motivation comes in many forms

Many businesses see extrinsic motivation (the rewards for doing the work) as the main motivator, but studies have shown that it is a combination of motivational influences that leave employees feeling contented. Millennial workers are increasingly more attracted to jobs that feature intrinsic motivation and a job that aligns to their own unique values. Is it the pull of extrinsic rewards or a desire for a more intrinsically appealing career?

3. Lifelong learning opportunities

Are you sick of being lectured and want to learn instead? College is expensive. For students entering college now, the average price for a moderate private college is $46,272 a year. That is a staggeringly high price to pay for an unsure future. Likewise, you may be stuck in a job that is not growing your skills. There is opportunity cost here, that you are losing out on simply by being in a job that doesn’t give you the opportunity to be a lifelong learner. Take control and build a path of lifelong learning.
