People travel round the world for different purposes but the underlying fact is that they are migrating temporarily to another place, which is tourism. So below are the top major reasons for tourism travel in the world.

1. MEDICAL TOURISM:

People travel all round the year for medical check-up in the best hospitals around the world. The reason most people give is the excellent medical service they receive in those countries. Women also use the opportunity to give birth to their children over there because of the good health facilities there; in addition their children automatically become citizens by birth in those countries. It also avails them the opportunity to visit relaxation spots and drive away the stress of their normal hectic life styles which could be injurious to their health according to medical experts. Students who have “rich sponsors” go to some countries to study and get various degree and diploma certificates from institutions based over there. Pilgrimage is a form of religious tourism which involves people migrating temporarily in mass for a particular religious event. The various camps and headquarters of big churches in Nigeria also experience a large turn-up of faithful during their annual conventions.

5. CULTURAL TOURISM: This normally involves traveling to a place to experience its rich cultural heritage and civilization; like its food, dressing, ways of living and festivals. This type of tourism brings curious and interested visitors to a place to know better about it from the inhabitants there. Nigeria, China and Egypt are excellent examples of such countries.

6. ADVENTURE TOURISM:

This form of tourism allows people experience the wild part of their personality. They do this by going anywhere of their choice. It is also the type of tourism where students on summer holidays go to very popular and interesting places for their vacation and then brag to their fellow class mates of their adventures when they resume school.  Countries most visited are UK, UAE, US Ghana and Kenya.

7. ART TOURISM: 

This type of tourism is meant for artists who travel to different countries of the world, for the purpose of displaying their artworks at different exhibitions organized by organizations like art galleries and museums. This affords them the opportunity to network with different people round the globe. France and Germany are two countries that majorly host art Exhibitions.

8. SPACE TOURISM:

It is relatively a new type of tourism and patronized only by the wealthy. It involves travelling out of the earth to space, like the moon and other planets like mars. Virgin-Atlantic is at the fore-front of carrying out such trips with its Galactic space ship. You can book for your own trip and wait because people have already being booking for the next ten years. 

 9. SPORTS TOURISM:

Sports Tourism can be said to be the most appreciated form of tourism. It is also responsible for unifying countries of the world bringing relative peace to the countries around the globe. That is why countries relax their travel restrictions on foreigners when a major and big sporting event is to be hosted in their country like the Olympics. Brazil is making plans for visa waivers of 90 days for visitors planning to come for the 2016 Rio Olympics. FIFA organized events too have offered footballers and their supporters to travel round the world during the world cup and continental competitions. Different football and basketball leagues in Europe and the Americas have allowed their fans to travel also to watch their team play live! Golf and Lawn tennis fans are not left out too. 

10. Volunteer Tourism:

People who have the humanitarian spirit also travel to places in the world that need help from charitable donors. Red Cross an international volunteer group offers people such platform to do such. Tourist could also donate to organizations and orphanages online or visiting those places themselves to bear with the less privilege.
