Hammathan In Jos came Too Early. Drought Alarm. by Nobody: 9:06am On Nov 03, 2015
Jos and many other cities in Plateau state are know to be extremely cold during the hammathan period that commences late December usually the Christmas Eve. The sudden arrival of hammathan this early in the moth of November should give people who had suffered the effect of drought reasons to worry.

Plateau State is as a Plateau is transversed by Rocks which tent to affect the ground water storage in it environment and as such, losses water easily through it underground channels.

The more severe the drought, the more scarce water becomes. Now that the hammathan is coming this early with strong wind and dry air, it effect if not managed appropriately, would be be devastating to the people, farms and livestock.

Away from the drought now, the hammathan also comes with it, a sever cold that has in the past led to the death of many in the past.

Coming this early mean that its unexpected effect could be devastating to unprepared inhabitants in the city.

There is therefore the need to instruct the inhabitants on safe keeping of their bodies and careful management of water to be able to survive the surging hammathan.
