Google is a friend to all, both the young and the old. Most times the answer to your question is just a click away. Although, using Google to search can seem very easy, it is sometimes difficult to manipulate your search results to match exactly what you are searching for.

So to search better on Google, these 10 tips will help you and make your search easier:

Using a Tilde (~)

Let’s say you want to include a word in your search, but also want to include results that contain similar words or synonyms. To do this, use the tilde sign in front of the word. Example, if your search word is Restaurant and you need related words like dinner, pizza, dinning and so on, type ~Restaurant.

Quotation Marks (“)

Use quotation marks if you need to your search results to be explicitly what you typed. For example, if you need to search for puppy dog sweaters; simply enclose the search phrase within double quotes.

Use the tabs

Just below your search tab are a number of tabs. Usually you’ll see Web, Image, News, and More. Using these tabs, you can help define what kind of search you need to do. For example, if you need images on Nepal Earthquake, type Nepal Earthquake on the search tab and click on images just below the search tab. If it is news that you need, click the news. Its makes your search very easy and most people use the tabs already. If you are not, then it’s highly recommended to get associated with those tabs.

Track your packages

To use Google search to find out where your packages are simply enter any UPS, USPS, or Fedex tracking number directly into the Google search bar, and it’ll show you the tracking information about your package. This saves you the trouble of visiting the specific sites where you ordered from, searching for your package and then waiting for them to load. Just type your tracking number in and see where your package is.

Using Site Check

When searching for something from a particular website, use (sitesmiley for example, if you need to search for content concerning Nepal Earthquake on CNN website, simple type site:www.cnn.com Nepal Earthquake on your search tab and only content from CNN will appear.

Minus Sign

If you do not need a particular word to appear on your results, use the minus word in front of that word. For example, if your search word is fast food and you do not want restaurants to be included type fast foods –restaurants. This will exclude all information on restaurants and give you only information on fast foods.

Use File Types

To search for a particular file type on Google search, all you need to do is simple. For example, if you need to search for PDF file related to money, type filetype:pdf money on your search tab and your results will all be PDF files related to money. You can change the file type to your desired file.

Using OR

OR is used when searching for words that you aren’t sure about. For example if you need to look up candid and you aren’t sure if it is actually candid or Candice, just type Candid OR Candice on your search tab and results of both will be given to you.

Use The Plus (+) Sign

When searching for words or group of words that includes “and” but you want the results as a whole and not broken down, use the plus sign in front of “and”. For example, if your search word is peanut Butter and Jelly, type Peanut Butter +and Jelly. This will make your sure your search words are all together.

And for the last one serach for the word "Tilt" on Google Search to see what happens.
