1) Cafe Wall  If you relax your eyes and move your eyes around this image, it looks like the gray lines between the rows of black and white squares are curved. Don't be fooled; this is a still image, and those lines stay straight the whole time. 2) Scintillating Grid  This optical illusion's effect is pretty apparent right away as your eyes scan across the grid. Those dots are white, but as they shift into your peripheral vision, they turn black. 3) Zollner Illusion  It looks like there's a big mess of erratic lines going on here, but what you're actually seeing in this classic illusion is nine parallel lines running diagonally across the image. Those little hash marks intersecting the parallel lines throw off your perception, making them seem uneven. 4) Penrose Triangle  Known as a Penrose Triangle, this impossible object works with some pretty nifty geometry. And unlike many optical illusions, this one isn't likely to give you a massive headache. 5) Gray Squares  Similar to the Scintillating Grid, this illusion fools you into thinking there are gray squares or dots in the white corners where the black squares' corners meet. Again, this isn't a moving image, it's just your mind playing tricks on you. 6) Floating Rice  Another stomach-churning illusion for those prone to motion sickness, the Floating Rice illusion consists of a still image that appears to roll like ocean waves as you move your eyes around it. If you focus your eyes on just one spot in the image and keep them perfectly still, the movement will suddenly stop. 7) Arrow Men  When you see this image, do you see two parallel lines or arrows pointing in opposite directions, or do you see men descending to the left? It's hard to see both at once, but once you know what's there, you can switch your focus pretty easily. 8.) Duckrabbit  Do you see a duck or a rabbit? This classic illusion inspired some profound thoughts on symbols and meaning in the philosopher Wittgenstein. |

9) Impossible Elephant  How many legs does the elephant drawn here have? How many feet? Good thing they don't look like this in real life. 10) Devil's Fork  Also known as a blivet, this is a classical optical illusion that you've probably seen before. Look at the left end of the fork and you'll see three prongs, but look at the right end and you'll only see two. 11) Parallel Lines  A simple illusion that has blown minds for years, the arrows on the ends of these parallel lines trick you into thinking that one is longer than the other. In reality, if you take the arrows off the ends, the two lines are actually equal. 12) Turning Gears  Once again, don't let your eyes deceive you: this is a still image. Let your eyes relax as you look at this image, and it'll look like turning gears. 13) Ebbinghaus Illusion  Like the parallel lines illusion, the Ebbinghaus Illusion uses visual trickery to make you think that two identical shapes are different sizes. The smaller or larger circles that surround the central circles fool you into thinking that one is much larger than the other, but that doesn't stand up to measurement. 14) Columns or People?  A variation on a classic illusion with a vase or a face, take a look at the white columns, then shift your focus to the spaces in between. Do you see columns or people? 15) Ponzo Illusion  Yes, this is another illusion about parallel lines. Italian psychologist Mario Ponzo developed it to test his hypothesis that people judge an object's size relative to its background. Those two yellow lines are actually the same size. 16) Old People or Three People?  This is another cool illusion that will look different depending on where you focus. If you're looking at smaller details, you probably see three people, including one with a guitar a nd one peeking out a doorway. If you're looking at the big picture, you probably see two old people facing each other. You all remember this last one 17) The Dress  There's a reason why this created so much hype in early 2015 as people were genuinely seeing two different things; some were seeing both blue and black or white and gold alternately depending on how long they looked at the image.
